SERVICES

Services include

A tuning/service appointment will consist of not just a piano tuning, but also some basic maintenance that often gets overlooked.

This will include basic voicing, small repairs, adjustments and lubrication of parts as needed. This can avoid costly repairs in the future and keep your instrument at a consistently high standard.

To make an appointment you can call Jennifer at 0420 574 236 or use the contact form to the left of the page.

Tuning

A stable, accurate tuning will need to be performed at least once, preferably twice per year. Performance/teaching pianos will need more regular service.

If your piano has not had a tune for some time, it may need more than one tuning to pull it up to A440 pitch and stabilise. This is due the the high amount of tension on the piano plate and strings.

Voicing

Voicing is the process of changing the sound or tone of the piano to suit taste, environment and repertoire. This is done by careful regulation and alignment of parts, and by altering the chemical structure of the hammer. This can be done using various chemicals. Needles may also be used in strategic places to loosen the wool fibres of the hammer.

Regulation

An essential service in keeping your piano playing smoothly and responding to your touch, this includes alignment and adjustment of all the mechanisms inside the piano action.

Restoration and Rebuilding

A piano is an investment for the future. Restoration of high quality instruments can be a viable alternative to a new instrument. This can improve tone, stability, appearance and performance of your piano.

Action Design

The piano action is a series of levers that connect your finger to the piano hammer. Custom design your action to suit all tastes. Lighten the action to reduce the risk of injury through practice, or just to enjoy the feel of a smooth, responsive piano. Jennifer is the only licenced Precision TouchDesign installer in Australia.

Historic Instruments

Services for harpsichords, fortepianos and portative organs. Tuning of historic temperaments to suit period repertoire. Voicing and regulation of parts.

Institutional Care

Institutional piano use is often much more intense than the use of a private piano. Pianos in high-use environments require more attentive service and maintenance to keep them at an appropriate standard of playing, and to ensure longevity, thus increasing the value of your piano inventory.

A flexible maintenance schedule can be drawn up for every instrument that allows for all requirements. This is a useful practice for busy institutions. Please call for more information.
