About
Combining thorough formal training in piano tuning and design, and international experience with high quality musicians, Jennifer is accustomed to producing high standards of workmanship.
Trained in music with a Bachelor of Music/Music Education from the University of NSW, a Certificate in Piano Technlogy from Ontario, Canada, Jennifer has also completed a Fellowship for a Master of Arts in Piano Technology from the Florida State University.
Multiple opportunities to apply skills in piano tuning, rebuilding, piano restoration and action design have been offered from specialists all over the United States, Canada and Germany. Starting with a tuning apprenticeship at the Steinway sponsered Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado, and extending to rebuilding fellowships with piano technicians at Northwestern University in Chicago have given a diverse and rigorous background in the piano industry.
Trained in various methods of grand piano action design, Jennifer has assisted in teaching classes at the last two national Piano Technicians conferences in the United States in 2007 and 2008. Jennifer has acted as an action design consultant for private technicians, as well as doing contract rebuilding.
In 2008 Jennifer was awarded an Australian Arts Council Skills and Development Grant to fund two weeks of training at the Sauter Piano Factory in Southern Germany, and to attend and teach at the National Piano Technicians Guild Conference in Los Angeles, California.
Currently, Jennifer is working as a self-employed technician working for music schools, institutions, nightclubs, music dealerships and private clients.
As a musician as well as a tuner/technician, Jennifer understands the importance of having a responsive piano that is consistently able to perform at the highest level.
